I’m Ilona, a Finnish illustrator, based in Helsinki, Finland. Themes like nature, biology, psychology, poetry and fantasy inspires me. I love entwining abstract concepts into concrete entities. My illustration style includes creating organic shapes, vibrant colour combinations and lively pattern surfaces and they have enriched articles and stories both in books and magazines. I'm also one of the birds working at the interior design agency Kakadu Oy.
I have created characters called Kinkmoles (fin.Sykkyrämyyrä) and they appear in my work every now and then. They are my babies. The first children's book Minä olen Sykkyrämyyrä! was published in 2018 by Sammakko. I am currently working on a next one.
When not working, I hoard and plant different kind of plant seeds and nurture them. This passion for greenery is often translated in my work. I am also part of two street art collectives called Multicoloured Dreams and G-rex and my work can be seen in various parts of Finland.
